Goddess of winter, cold, and storms. Auril is a cruel and indifferent deity who seeks to preserve the beauty of the world by freezing it. She is widely feared in the North, where travelers make offerings to cold streams and snowbanks in hopes of surviving harsh winters. Her followers sacrifice in her name not from love but from desperate necessity.
In Parnast, a shrine displays Auril’s symbol alongside those of Angharradh, Chauntea, and Mielikki — the four seasonal deities — though the symbols are subtly corrupted, hinting at the desert’s degrading influence on divinity.
Auril holds particular sway over Icewind Dale, where her power over endless winter is at its greatest.
