High Supervisor Aelfred is one of the most powerful living followers of Tyr and currently leads the Order of the Golden Lion. In 1470 DR, he adopted Morrigan into the Order and taught her to become a powerful paladin. During this time, he learned of a mysterious creature that murdered Morrigan’s original parents and begged Tyr to protect her while she was in Waterdeep. He also kept Morrigan’s family heirloom to give to her when the time was right.
In 1486 DR, Sir Egan was temporarily admitted to the Order of the Golden Lion to test his worthiness. Only a few weeks later, it was revealed that Egan was a fraud and the crimes of the Margasters were exposed. Upon learning of their crimes, Aelfred stripped the Margasters of their noble titles and exiled them from Waterdeep. They did not react well, and an intense battle ensued between the Seekers and their allies against the two Margasters and the Four Kings. After the battle, Aelfred also exiled the party from Waterdeep, partly because of minor crimes committed during the conflict and also to move them out of the city until Margaster supporters were rooted out.
Before the group left, Aelfred gave Morrigan a magical stone to communicate with him and her heirloom: the sword named Crownfall. During later communications, the group learned that a large wave hit Waterdeep and caused significant, but repairable, damage to its docks.
