Longsaddle is a small village in the North, population approximately 530, situated east of the Crags and west of the Evermoors. It surrounds the magical home of the Harpell family.

The town’s guard and the Harpells don’t care for people who use magic without permission in town, and any such use would draw questions. They do, however, enchant many parts of the village — such as the fountain — with beneficial magical effects.

The Ivy Mansion has a gate in front attached only to a short fence, which looks superfluous, but the entire mansion is surrounded by an invisible wall. The residents are the middle-aged Penelope Harpell and her husband Dowell, and Kipper Harpell, the oldest and most powerful of the clan.

Defences

Magical defences created by the Harpells, including golems and glyphs. Additionally, a small defence force of 30 town guards.

Notable Establishments

  • Burgen’s Mill: Owned by Burgen Stoneaxe, younger brother of Krom Stoneaxe the blacksmith. He inherited a small sum from his father and used it to purchase the mill.
  • Krom’s Smithy: Run by Krom Stoneaxe. An experienced blacksmith who inherited the family business. Curt and professional, not overly friendly but not deliberately offensive; possesses a strange fixation on the use of metal in weapons and armor.
  • The Gilded Horseshoe: A fair-sized inn owned by a rock gnome named Zook. The inn is closed from mid-Nightal to mid-Ches while travel through Longsaddle is at its lowest ebb.
  • Griffonposts Trading Store: A fair-sized trading post owned by the halfling Torvan Zellerup. The Zellerups are a large clan who live in a burrow below Harpell Manor. Torvan spent his youth adventuring across the North before settling down with his wife Belynda.

A recently crashed astral ship nearby is currently occupied by mind flayers.
