The Docks District comprises the western quadrant of Neverwinter, between the Protector’s Enclave and the Blacklake District. Named for the city’s commercial docks, it is one of the seedier parts of the city — a center of the smuggling trade as well as more respectable commerce. Much of Neverwinter’s original wealth stems from its position as one of the few ports on the Sword Coast North.

History

The eruption of Mount Hotenow in 1451 DR destroyed the dock foundations and swamped large areas of the port, leaving the docks a rotting ghost town for years. When Dagult Neverember began rebuilding Neverwinter, he made the Docks a top priority, hiring engineers and loggers to harvest timber from the Upland Rise. By 1479 DR, the district was fully rebuilt and operational.

Locations

  • Legit Larry’s Shop: A general store owned by an eccentric, possibly fraudulent, Djinn named Legit Larry. Stocks general supplies, potions, and a variety of magical trinkets.
  • Fighting pit: A medium-sized arena used on celebratory days for gladiatorial bouts against captured beasts, with clerics on standby to prevent fatalities. The Seekers won one such challenge during their visit in 1486 DR.
  • The Festival: The district hosts various festivals throughout the year. During the 1486 DR Harvest Festival, a troupe of clowns from Luskan was revealed to be assassins sent by Don Tigre’s clan to kill Baron Rikkler and spark a war between Bryn Shander and Neverwinter. The plot was foiled by the Seekers.
