The Demiplane of Elminster manifests as a small, floating island suspended within the Astral Void. At its center stands a modest mansion seamlessly connected to a tall wizard’s tower. Access to this demiplane is heavily restricted — only those granted Elminster’s express permission may enter, and even then, entry requires standing at a precise location within Waterdeep.
In 1486 DR, Elminster hosted a grand celebration within his demiplane, inviting the Seekers and several other notable guests. The evening’s centerpiece was to be a murder mystery, with the participants tasked to uncover Elminster’s “killer” as part of a playful magical game.
However, the event took a grim turn when Elminster’s old rival, Pathos Gloomblight, seized the opportunity to enact a genuine assassination. During the festivities, Pathos trapped Elminster’s soul within a gemstone, plunging the party into chaos.
Thanks to the Seekers’ investigation and intervention, the true culprit was exposed, defeated, and ultimately slain — his remains consumed by Connor Lycanmor.
