Ten Towns is a loose confederation of ten frontier settlements in Icewind Dale, formed around three frozen lakes: Maer Dualdon, Lac Dinneshere, and Redwaters. The towns’ economies depend almost entirely on the fishing of knucklehead trout and the scrimshaw carved from its bones.
The ten settlements are: Bryn Shander (the largest, the only one not on a lake), Bremen, Caer-Dineval, Caer-Konig, Dougan’s Hole, Easthaven, Good Mead, Lonelywood, Targos, and Termalaine.
The towns are governed collectively by a council of speakers; Bryn Shander’s speaker, Duvessa Shane, leads the council and is considered the de facto voice of Ten Towns. The confederation bickers constantly but unites against outside threats.
