Pazuzu is the Demon Prince of the Abyssal Aerial Kingdoms, the great corruptor known as “The Great Betrayer” by most deities. He is one of the oldest demon lords, thus possessing the title of Demon Prince. He usually presents himself as a muscular figure with the wings of a moth, the head of an eagle, the tail of a scorpion, and the hooves of a goat, always accompanied by his chalice.
What makes him dangerous isn’t his strength as a demon prince, but his attitude. While most demon lords revel in savagery and bloodlust, he prefers to use cunning and guile to achieve his ends. He sees the world as a theater play and constantly seeks out new and interesting “actors” to fulfill roles in his entertainments. He fulfills the wishes of those who say his name three times, in return for a small price — a price that eventually increases until his victims have no choice but turn to evil or lose their souls to him.
Warning: Never say his name twice in succession — bad things happen.
Willow Margaster, member of Seekers, made a pact with Pazuzu a few years in the past, offering his soul in return for being saved from the Margaster Family. Pazuzu agreed, hoping to entertain himself with the eventual tragedy of the Margasters.
In 1486 DR, during the invasion of Triboar by the Calamity, Othovir Margaster summoned Pazuzu and offered his soul in return for saving Willow and his allies from the Runespeaker. While time was paused, Pazuzu took Othovir’s soul but let it drift to the hands of the Margasters, knowing it would give greater entertainment later.
During Seekers’ stay in Waterdeep, they discovered that one of their allies, Archibald Littlefinger, had offered the soul of his firstborn to Pazuzu in return for riches, not knowing he would actually father a son. Outraged by this, Connor Lycanmor promised the death of Pazuzu and to free Archibald’s son Aaron from the Abyss.
On the rest of their stay in Waterdeep, Pazuzu led and manipulated Willow into an eventual showdown with his family, ending with his victory. As thanks for the entertainment, he offered Willow a drink from his chalice, turning Willow partly fiend and giving him a sizable boost in power.
Shortly after Nog’s death in Alkai Tor, Willow summoned Pazuzu in hopes of resurrecting Nog. Unfortunately, Pazuzu was more interested in Nog’s soul and was only stopped by Kord, the honorable God of War.
His most recent appearance was in the Desert after Willow’s death, when the party was discussing whether or not to resurrect him. Pazuzu showed his interest in letting Willow stay dead to obtain his soul, which provoked Seekers into resurrecting him.
