Born in 1450 DR in the powerful Griffon tribe, Ragnar quickly grew to become a powerful Totem Warrior under the tutelage of the Warrior-Shamans of the clan. He eventually caught the interest of Kralgar Bonesnapper, who taught him ambition, leadership, cunning, and martial ability.

While being groomed by Kralgar to become his successor, he grew the same ambition to raise the Griffon clan’s position at the top of all barbarian clans. After many years, the dominance of the clan was finally guaranteed and Ragnar was satisfied — content that the endless bloodshed he caused served a purpose.

But Kralgar was not satisfied and revealed his true intentions: to conquer one of the civilized cities of the Sword Coast. Despite Ragnar’s protests, Kralgar reunited thousands of barbarians, war beasts and every ally he could find to invade Silverymoon, causing the Battle for Silverymoon in 1470 DR.

After being knocked unconscious in the battle, Ragnar woke up surrounded by hundreds of corpses. With nowhere to go and severely wounded, he walked dozens of miles until he lost consciousness again and was captured by Slavers from Luskan.

Until 1486 DR, Ragnar managed to become the Champion of the Pit, earning his nickname “Ragnar, the Red.” Everything changed when a new challenger named Zenvalros entered the pit fight. After a long and grueling battle, Ragnar lost for the second time. Feeling compassion for him, Zenvalros used the prize earnings to free Ragnar from his slavery contract. With a renewed ambition, Ragnar now travels the Sword Coast, seeking to reunite the Barbarian tribes and free them of power-hungry leaders like Kralgar Bonesnapper.
