An underground market located in Luskan — the only black market on the Sword Coast that is simultaneously illegal and approved by the government. While it is a shady cover for the Pirate Lords’ activities, the market also serves as a neutral meeting ground for most factions in Luskan, even ones that are enemies to the Pirate Lords. While the reason for this is unknown, the fact that they profit from all transactions in the market is probably one of them.

It is a terrible place where slaves, drugs, exotic creatures, and cursed magical items are sold to nobles, criminals, and pirates.

Architecture

Located in a secret underground area of Luskan, it is composed of multiple market stalls, shady taverns, well-decorated auction rooms, and even a small gladiatorial arena.

History

The black market has existed long before the Pirate Lords, but only in 1420 DR did it become the powerful council-sponsored space it is today.

In 1486 DR, the group was sent by Don Tigre to examine the black market and managed to plant one of the clan’s agents as one of the market sellers. Additionally, the monk Zenvalros managed to release a powerful barbarian named Ragnar, the Red from gladiatorial service in the pit, after defeating Ragnar in combat.

The “Halfling” Felguros and Redd the Kidd almost caused a diplomatic incident — the former by attempting to steal from the market and the latter by punching the auctioneer.

It has been identified as a place where a black Zhentarim ring can be used to prove contact and negotiate trade.
