The Calamity is an outlaw military group formed in 1350 DR by the enigmatic Runespeaker. The group was relatively notorious in the following decades, but only became prominent with the Battle for Silverymoon, where the army fought both the invading and defending sides of the conflict, escaping with many riches and minor losses.
In 1486 DR, with the capture of the lieutenant Giles Ne’ville by the Seekers, the Calamity threatened Triboar with destruction if they would not return Giles. This led to a weeks-long conflict with Triboar, where the Lord Protector and a large part of Triboar’s army perished. With the return of the Seekers, Triboar formed a coordinated defense against the final invasion of the Calamity, and the Runespeaker met his match, falling in battle shortly after.

Led by the powerful Runespeaker with multiple Lieutenants, each powered by runic magic, leading each cell of the organization:
- Lakira Rain, a powerful female Human archer (deceased — killed by Redd)
- Sal’kin Bloodfist, a bloodthirsty male Half-Orc wielding a giant maul (deceased — killed by Ougigoth Togak)
- Voln Elstrum, a skilled Human duelist (deceased — killed by Korosu)
- Giles Ne’ville, a cunning Eldritch Knight (deceased — killed by Korosu, but defeated in battle by Connor Lycanmor)
- Brill Haverkoss — the former second-in-command of Giles Ne’ville who became a lieutenant after orchestrating his capture with the Seekers (defected during invasion)
