Father Rogers presents himself as a friendly, fat priest, who pays respect to every god. He first met the Seekers in Parnast before their departure to the Desert, but even on that encounter he has shown that there is more to him than meets the eye, such as the reveal that he knew of the demon hunting Red. Apparently, he is Red’s grandfather.

Later in the cantina of the Arena, Father Rogers showed his power more obviously by stopping time and offering Red a deal: He would make a contract with three conditions. If the three conditions were satisfied, Rogers would obtain Red’s soul. If they were not accomplished by the end of Red’s life, he would be free of the contract. The contract was as follows:

  1. The demon hunting Red would be eliminated
  2. Don Tigre’s clan established Red’s vision over the city.
  3. Red willingly betrays his clan.

During this discussion of the contract, Rogers also revealed that he possessed the soul of four of the Lords of Calimsharn, insinuating it was he that gave them the gift of Truespeech. Apparently, the dual daggers that Red used was Rogers’ creation, which had many users along the years.

When a creature arrived to hunt down Red near Calimsharn, Father Rogers intervened with the Lord of Knowledge and the Master of the Arena. Using an unknown relic in the form of a hourglass, he sealed the demon within it and thus, the condition was satisfied. Afterwards, he augmented the power of Red’s dual daggers and vanished.

Sometime after these events, Red encountered Father Rogers once again, revealing that he had collected the soul of the Lord of Slaves. As a reward for Red accomplishing one of his objectives, he gifted Red a finely crafted scimitar.

Rogers deems to “know all things”, including having known the presence of God of the Desert beneath Calimsharn.

He gave the Lords of Calimsharn the gift of Truespeech.

He also appeared in Meredin’s dreams and provided him with a poison to administer to Eszteban, claiming it would merely weaken him. The poison was both physical and mental, responsible for Eszteban’s prolonged paranoia and decline. Red shared this information with the Order of the Purple Robes council, which resolved to strengthen its defenses against mental influence.
